WHERE ETERNAL LOVE, SPIRITUAL HOPE, AND RESTORING FAITH MEET
The Montgomery Church of Christ seeks to worship in spirit and truth.
Our congregation sings a capella (without mechanical instruments), just as the example of the first century church (Ephesians 5:19-21).
Visitors may sing along or simply listen to the words spoken to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16).
Many visiting for the first time comment on how beautiful the singing is without the accompaniment of musical instruments. Some have even expressed that they find it easier to focus on the song’s meaning.
Though the frequency of the Lord's Supper's observance is debated among many we partake of the communion every first day of the week. The christians of the early church assembled together to break bread upon the first day of the week, and we simply follow their example (Acts 20:7). The Lord's supper is a highlight of the week in which we unite with others of like precious faith to commemorate the death of our Lord and Savior. The Lord's supper as a sacred act of worship and should never be forsaken or neglected. The Lord's Supper is just as important as the assembly itself. When we partake of the Lord's supper we not only affirm our commitment to Christ, but also to our christian brethren, as we come together in faithful obedience, worshipping in spirit and truth.
Here at the Montgomery Church of Christ we provide an opportunity for christians to give back a portion of their earnings, as an act of worship to God. Visitors are not required to give, and they should never feel judged for not doing so. We believe that the collection can be an uncomfortable part of worship, especially for those who have no money to give. We do not judge individuals on their giving. Many churches today ask for donations and "love offerings" multiple times throughout their services. We pass the "collection plate" only once, on Sunday morning. Though it is always appreciated, the visitor is never expected to give when the plate is passed.
The Montgomery Church of Christ strives to be more than visitor friendly. Our goal is to be a loving, compassionate place where sinners come to find strength and hope, through encouragement and forgiveness. Many of us have been visitors, and we know how it feels to visit a church for the first time. Not only do we make it our goal to be the friendliest church, but we seek to unite people with their Creator. We aim to treat others the way we want to be treated, just as Jesus taught in (Matthew 7:12). We hope to unite individuals to one another, and to God through worship and His Word.
We are certain you will receive a warm greeting and loving atmosphere. We do not want anyone to feel judged or singled out in any way. You will never be made to stand, or expected to give any “testimony.” That is why we make our services simple, reverent, practical, and meaningful; so that no one is embarrassed.
We want you to feel like the Montgomery Church of Christ is where you belong!.
When you visit, you will meet people who, just like you, sincerely want to follow the teachings of the Bible and please God with their lives. You’ll find that every sermon and class is rooted in the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16,17). In fact, members and visitors are urged to bring their own Bibles and follow along and be like those we read about in Acts 17:11. They searched the scriptures daily and made certain that the things they were taught were true.
We strive to do Bible things in Bible ways, and to call Bible things by Bible names – nothing more or nothing less.
We seek to exalt Christ in our songs, prayers, sermons, and lives (Colossians 1:18). We hope to fill the church with the beautiful promise of heaven (Revelation 21).
You will find free booklets, pamphlets, tracts, and back issues of publications displayed in the foyer. These are free to any member or guest. Bible correspondence courses are available on upon request, also free of charge. A personal Bible study (in-home or interactive) is available for those who want to know more about the church of christ.
